National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is held to recognize the disproportionate impact HIV has on gay and bisexual men, especially among people of color. Great advances have been made in treatment, prevention, and awareness and those with HIV can live normal fulfilling lives without developing AIDS. However, there is always more that can be done to help prevent the spread of HIV and discrimination against those infected.

  • Educate yourself about HIV/AIDS
  • Get tested regularly, know your status
  • Speak with a doctor about PrEP use
  • Use protection during intercourse
  • Call out stigmatization of people with HIV
  • Talk with people in your community about prevention, especially in areas with limited access to education and resources
