On the way to Salt Lake City we got to make a stop at the Bonneville Salt Flats, and wow, it was worth it. The flats were partly flooded when we pulled up, so we got to see a little bit of everything. In some spots there was standing water that reflected the sky and mountains like a giant mirror. Other parts were dry white salt crust that went on forever.

It’s honestly hard to explain how big this place is. You look out and it just keeps going, flat and white with mountains way off in the distance. Photos don’t really do it justice but we tried our best anyway.

We couldn’t stay long. A storm was rolling in right as we got there and the last thing we wanted was the van getting stuck out on the salt. So it was a quick run around, snap as many pics as we could, and get back on the road before the clouds caught up with us.

If you’re ever driving through, we highly recommend stopping here for a photo shoot. It’s the perfect backdrop for showing off your partial, ears and tail, or your latest con look. The wide open space and that reflection on the water make for some really unreal shots.

One heads up though. Be careful with your paw feet out there. The minerals in the salt can stain, so keep them out of the wet areas or bring something to stand on if you want to show off your feet paws in pics. Your fur will thank you later.
